Seminar Leadership

Zoe Austin is a 2017 HOBY Ohio North alum. Zoe has volunteered at HOBY Ohio North since 2017. She is a student at Kent State University studying Neuroscience with a minor in Forensics and Photography. With the hope of going to Grad School to get her M.D. or PharmD.

​On top of going to school Zoe works for Aultman Hospital and CVS, volunteers in numerous groups around campus, and is a freelance photographer. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and dog, Maxwell. Zoe is excited for seminar this year!

Adeline is so excited to be returning for her 3rd year on staff! She is a 2018 HOBY Ohio North alumna from Akron, Ohio, and has served on both Team Ops & as a Junior Facilitator.

​Adeline is a second-year student at Miami University’s Honors College where she studies Education with minors in Child Development & Political Science, with plans to become a school counselor after graduation.

She is a member of the Urban Cohort, a social justice-oriented teaching program, a fundraising chair for Chi Omega’s Make-a-Wish philanthropy, and a mentor for first-year students.

​Adeline fell in love with the HOBY community during her ambassador year and can’t wait to meet all of the new ambassadors.

Rachel is a 2017 HOBY Ohio North and WLC alumna and has served as a facilitator at HOBY Ohio North every year since.

She has served as our Director of Facilitation since 2021. Rachel graduated from Ohio State University in 2023 and works in marketing.

​She is currently living in Columbus, Ohio and loves traveling, working out, baking, and music.

Josh Sommers is the Assistant Director of Programming for the Ohio North Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar this year. Josh is a 2018 HOBY Ohio North alumni and has been back every year since to volunteer on HOBY Staff.

He has volunteered for HOBY Ohio North in 2019, 2020, and now 2021, as well as HOBY Region B (Pennsylvania Central) in 2020. Aside from HOBY, Josh is a graduate of Edgewood High School, in Ashtabula, OH and is in his freshman year of college at The University of Akron, pursuing bachelor degrees in music education and percussion performance.

Josh is overjoyed to be helping with HOBY Ohio North 2024 and can’t wait for this year’s seminar!

Katie is an experienced educator with a passion for helping teenagers discover who they are and how they can reach their potential. She joined Ohio North in 2021 as a facilitator and is excited to help develop an enriching, rewarding seminar experience for this year’s ambassadors.

Jason has been volunteering at HOBY North for 14 years as an adult facilitator, operations, and recruitment Directors as well as filling in as a guest speaker and panelist. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University College of Engineering and a Navy Veteran he has seen the world over.

​Currently a Senior Project Manager for Tremco in Beachwood Ohio, Jason enjoys coaching youth hockey with his two boys, cheering for his hometown Pittsburgh sports teams and playing volleyball.

Jason has been volunteering at HOBY North for 14 years as an adult facilitator, operations, and recruitment Directors as well as filling in as a guest speaker and panelist. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University College of Engineering and a Navy Veteran he has seen the world over.

Emily first attended HOBY Ohio North in 2008 as a representative of Lake High School, and has come back to volunteer whenever she can. Emily received her undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and attended law school at Case Western Reserve University.

​Emily currently works at John Carroll University as the Director of Community Standards and Student Wellbeing, Title IX Coordinator where she gets to continue helping students learn and grow into the best versions of themselves.
